Albert M. Afonso is a shareholder and the managing partner of Afonso & Archie, P.C. He concentrates his practice on the representation of individuals in matters involving the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP, formerly the Division of Youth and Family Services, or DYFS). He has defended parents in DCPP and DYFS matters for more than 25 years.
Born in Porto, Portugal, Albert is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish and has represented a substantial number of Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking families across South Jersey.
Before founding Afonso & Archie, P.C., Albert practiced on his own for more than ten years. He received his Bachelor of Science from Philadelphia University in May 1992, cum laude, and his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University in May 1995.
Albert has spoken for the Camden County Bar Association and has appeared as a panelist on the television program Legal Line.
Alongside his practice, Albert designed and built the firm’s entire technology platform from the ground up and manages it himself: the phone and intake systems, secure client file access, on-premises servers, continuous backup and redundant internet connections. He is available to consult with other law firms on law office technology and operations.
