Albert Afonso is a shareholder and managing partner who concentrates his practice on the representation of individuals in all matters involving the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (formerly Division of Youth and Family Services or DYFS / DCPP). Mr. Afonso has defended parents against DCPP/DYFS for 20+ years.
Born in Porto, Portugal, Albert is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
Prior to founding Afonso & Archie P.C., Albert was a solo practitioner for over 10 years. Albert received his Bachelor of Science from Philadelphia University in May 1992, cum laude, and his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University in May 1995.
Albert is admitted to practice law in the States of New Jersey and Pennsylvania (1996); and Vermont; Federal courts – United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey.
Albert is a former member of the District IV Attorney Ethics Committee and was appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to be the Burlington County Fee Arbitration Secretary. Albert has been a speaker for the Camden County Bar Association and has appeared as a panelist on the television program “Legal Line.”
In 2016 Mr. Afonso was selected to be a board member for the Burlington County UNITED WAY CHARITY.
